Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
The pressure was really on The Sarah Connor Chronicles right from the start. The first spin-off from the extraordinary Terminator franchise, it picks up after the events of the second film, and finds Lena Headey in the title role, who--along with her 15-year old son, John--sets about trying to save the world from the impending threat of Skynet. Along the way too, they encounter Summer Glau (whom there's a strong chance you'll know from Firefly), who steps into the shoes of Cameron, a bodyguard Terminator who helps fight off the many threats they face. She's some piece of work.

Very deliberately paced, and intricately woven to make sure it safely fits within the Terminator universe, The Sarah Connor Chronicles works a great deal better than you'd have any right to expect. Tightly scripted, and with a terrific performance by Headey in the central role, the show packs plenty of action and narrative into the nine episodes of its maiden season, and it certainly whets the appetite for more.

Perhaps the biggest compliment to be paid, though, is that The Sarah Connor Chronicles is a worthy companion and follow-up to the first two Terminator films, and one that genuinely expands and deepens the franchise. It'll be fascinating to see where the show goes next. --Jon Foster

5 out of 5 stars Currently the best sci-fi show. I love it. Buy it without any doubt.   January 6, 2009
I think that the worst thing that Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles has had to struggle is the horrible name that creators gave to the show. I don't begin to watch this fantastic show since this las September when I bought season 1. Instantly I liked it very much, the characters, the plot, all very fresh and well done. I think this show is getting better and better, Summer Glau's portray and charisma is the main power of why I keep hook watching it. TSCC is a great show, don' t miss it.

The DVD quality is also great.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent, but beware of too high expectations!   January 2, 2009

Don't expect too much. This is just a TV series, so budget's obviously tight. Keeping this in mind, the effects look better than in most TV series. Only Linda Hamilton as the real Sarah Connor is missing but one gets used to it over time.

Summer Glau as innocent looking goddess of war terminator simply does it for me. "Grief counseling" or the ballet teacher episode is one of many highlights. She is simply brilliant.

Story develops kind of slowly although there is enough action and missions to go for. Season 1 creates the atmosphere and introduces the characters and backgrounds. I just would have expected something like a "boss-fight" with some serious action and a better cliffhanger for SEASON 2. So only 4 stars.

DEFINITELY WORTH BUYING AND WATCHING even more than once. Just keep expectations low and at the end of the SEASON 1 you definitely want to see SEASON 2 asap. Hopefully it is as ALIEN 1 and ALIEN 2 - unfortunately with a TV budget... Here you go Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - Season 2

4 out of 5 stars Good and getting even better...   December 30, 2008

I was and still am a massive terminator fan since I was a kid and thought Arnold's show and that of the terminator films were big shoes to fill. Indeed in all honesty it does take an episode or two to adjust to watching something terminator based without the apearence of Arnold but this show is actually a great show in it's own right.

As another reviewer did say it is not the most action packed film or series but you do get the impression that this is on purpose as it seems to focus more on character and story development. Very, very good show.

Terminators could be a bit scarier looking and would be better if they looked a bit more like Arnold but that aside this is a good show. Buy the Blu-Ray version though as this DVD has virtually no extra features.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing!!!   December 11, 2008
This is only my second ever review on Amazon, after my scathing review of Chinese Democracy (and boy did I get some criticism for that, lol).

Anyway, this show does rock (unlike Chinese Democracy, lol).

T2 is one of my all time fav films and this TV show is now one of my all time fav TV shows.

My review is composed a few bullet points (no spoilers):

- It's a perfect homage to the first two films (and features cool references).

- It has many cool moments like only the Terminator films can.

- Lots of action.

- Better emotional drama and relationships and character building than the films.

- The last episode features a Terminator fight that is the absolute best in the series, even reaches the standards of T2.

- Plenty of excellent, and subtle, humour.

- Special fx are really good for a TV show.

So there. That's it. If you love the first 2 films then you will love this. I did.

And can I add before I go that this is all just my opinion so don't bother replying if you disagree. I would understand if you don't like if that's your opinion. Silly critics!

3 out of 5 stars Good, not great...but getting better (season 2)   December 3, 2008
I know what some of the reviewers here are saying with their 'middle of the road' reviews...No doubt it was a bold move to bring the franchise to TV and it in part works. Where I feel let down somewhat is thst we are looking at an idea that was conceived nearly 25 years ago, and since then sci-fi films/tv/comics/book etc have developed and 'moved on' so to speak.
I feel the writers have follewed the premise/ideas set by the first film a bit too closely and I feel the series has been a missed opporunity to broaden the terminator universe - It sort of promises but never quite delivers...I really want to see some good solid action with lots of sci-fi content rather than being subjected to slightly ropey acting...(due to I suspect, slightly dodgy script writing), a few too many all american cliche's...still, it terminates, I mean, kills an hour when there is nothing on the other channels...
STOP PRESS!!!
I have just finished watching episode 6 of season 2...Annd I just cant wait for the next episode!!!(Season 2 is turning out to be everything season 1 should have...4.5 out of 5 so far).
For those, who like me were dissapointed with season 1, should hang-on in there for season 2 as it is really shaping up to be the busineess!!
