Fantastic!!!!!!!!11 December 26, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
bones season 3 is fantastic we get to see more of the booth and brennan(bones) relationship and also there first kiss. The best of all the 3 seasons more fantastic crimes and the great cast add laughter and tense moments. Just fantasic would certainly recommend it to fans of bones.
Still better than most December 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bones is a charming, intelligent and often funny procedural with some intriguing cases and great chemistry between the characters. Season 3 was not the best of the show, some of the story arcs being negatively affected by the season being truncated as a result of the writer's strike, but the show itself should not be disregarded on that basis; It is still one of the best shows around.
I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the inclusion of several season 4 episodes to round off the box set, which is why I bumped up my rating from 4 to 5 stars, the 4 being a reflection of the season not being quite as enjoyable as previous offerings. Well worth the price though.
The Dynamic Duo keeps it going December 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Like most US series, I can't help feeling when I watch this that the writers' strike has visibly affected the show. You might think that losing a few episodes doesn't make a difference, but in almost every show I've watched you can see where season long story lines have had to be drawn to a hasty conclusion.
That seems to me to be the case with the Gomorgan thread of series 3 - to have a serial killer continually one step ahead of the team is new for this season (the first two tended to have much more stand alone content than overall story arcs) and I really enjoyed it, but the ending did feel a little rushed. You get the feeling they had a slower and more drawn out denouement planned.
That said, this is still quality television. The mysteries are interesting, Booth and Brennan's chemistry still sizzles, and the team are a great mix who all bounce off of each other well. There aren't many characters like Brennan, Zack or Hodgins on television and it's refreshing to watch them. I also like the fact that the science while still well explained for the layman isn't dumbed down for viewers. This show assumes you have a brain and might like to use it as well as being entertained, and it can be watched on both levels - either you can sit back and enjoy it as a traditional light whodunnit or you can get into the critical/scientific aspects of it. (Which I choose usually depends on how busy I was at work that day or at weekends precisely how late I was out the night before)
Two thumbs up!
creepy, yet entertaining and fun - perfect evening viewing November 25, 2008 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
Bought on Monday and all watched by Wednesday as I had to know the resolution! A shorter season than normal (as others have commented), but no less enjoyable. Recommended if you like creepy whodunnits, good character interplay and acting, and a touch of humour.
For those interested in DVD features / extras here they are:
Audio: English 5.1 dolby surround Subtitles: english for the hearing impaired, danish, finnish, norwegian and swedish Runtime: 789 minutes colour on 5 dual-layer, single -sided discs Aspect ratio: 1.78:1 (approx)

Excellent Stuff November 22, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was in serious need of something a little cheering on the DVD front and what plomped onto the mat but Bones Series 3.
Seriously icky (there was a scene with an opened time capsule which made me wish I hadn't just made myself a cup of tomato soup! YEUCCHHHH!) in parts and with and obvious lumps missing from a couple of the story arcs, probably due to the writers strike, it still manages to combine a good crime drama with some well written humour and keep the plot pushing along.
It works, whichever way you look at it and I loved the Gormogon idea - an anti-secret society secret society !
The only thing which I wavered over was the preview double episode "Yanks in the UK" from the Fourth Series. This was, despite the best efforts of the gorgeous Indira Varma and the usual crew was utter pants! (Fortunately, the other two preview episodes seem to be far better so there is hope.)
Series 3 was excellent however and I recommend it wholeheartedly to one and all!
