Product Description Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman
Amazon.co.uk Review As the impresario behind gravity-defying Russian blockbuster Night Watch, it's inevitable that Hollywood would come calling for Timur Bekmambetov. With a studio budget and an international cast, including two Oscar winners, Timur cooks up a Hong Kong-styled actioner bursting with fast cars and big guns. Our unlikely hero is mild-mannered Chicago accountant Wesley Gibson (Atonement's James McAvoy), whose father died when he was a tot. Wesley never learned to stand up for himself, and his girlfriend, boss, and best buddy all take advantage until the seductive Fox (Angelina Jolie) rescues him from a sharpshooter named Cross (The Pianist's Thomas Kretschmann). After which, she whisks him away to a mansion on the edge of town to meet the other members of the Fraternity, where leader Sloan (Morgan Freeman) informs Wesley that Cross, a rogue agent, executed his father. Sloan believes Wesley has the goods to take him out, so he undergoes the Fraternity's brutal training regimen (Marc Warren and Common dish up some of the abuse). When he's ready, Sloan sends him out to fulfill his duty, but matters become complicated when Wesley finds out someone isn't telling the truth, leading our former milquetoast to exact an elaborate revenge. For those who've been following McAvoy's career to date, Wanted will surely come as a surprise. In adapting Mark Millar's comic series, Timur offers buckets of blood and a smidgen of depth, but fans of The Matrix and Mr. and Mrs. Smith will want to give this one a look. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

good film with the worst ending ever December 31, 2008 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
the film is quite good but when you get to the end it has to be the worst ending possible. the arch rival saves the main star of the film from falling to his death and then the main star kills him only to find out that it was his dad. if he wanted the main star dead why did he save him. very dissapointed with the bad plot. if some one saved your live when you thought they were trying to kill you ,wouldnt you think they were doing it for a reason. the director is an idiot
Movie of 2008 (for me!) December 3, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Everyone goes on about either the dark knight, or iron man, but for me it was this film that gets my movie of the year vote! totally OTT yes, but it works! Think the matrix with rambo violence! absolutely amazing
Great fun - cars, guns, girls and explosions - pure comic book November 8, 2008 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
I saw this film at the cinema and really enjoyed it - so much so that I pre-ordered the Blu-Ray. It's pure comic book and should be enjoyed as such. Leave your brain at the door and just enjoy the ride. It's not a high-brow cinematic classic but it packs a lot of fun into a couple of hours.
Ever had an IQ test dumbo? November 7, 2008 4 out of 57 found this review helpful
If your IQ is in the positive territory then you will probably not enjoy this rubbish movie. Just like Hancock, great special effects do not make for a great movie. And to top it all off the weedy James McAvoy (poor American accent) is miscast and Morgan Freeman turns in another 'Morgan Freeman' performance.
