5 out of 5 stars Get Lost!   November 5, 2007

It's taken me two years longer than most people to pick up on Lost. I heard the hype but wasn't convinced. Even after watching the first half a dozen episodes of the first series it seemed to be just a well-made, well-written above average show and then I realised that I wanted to get home to find out what was going to happen next. Now I'm hooked.

Other people on here have explained the storyline so I won't bother other than to say the series is about a group of survivors of a plane crash and there attempts to overcome the challenges thrown at them by the island on which they find themselves. By introducing characters in stages and exposing past lives through flashbacks things start to become clear or, in some cases, false leads are given to make this anything but a straightforward tv programmes.

If you want something a little off-centre and haven't tried it yet, give it a go. You really should get Lost!

5 out of 5 stars Maddeningly Addictive   October 28, 2007

Lost is something quite special. I didn't fancy it when it was first on TV but I bought this box set on impulse and my girlfriend and I became hooked straight away.

A plane on route to LA from Sydney crashes just offshore a jungle island which doesn't seem to be on the map. When the shock of the crash wears off the survivors begin to face the fact that they will have to survive on the island for some time. The problem is, the jungle seems to be stalked by polar bears, hostile island dwellers and some kind of supernatural entity. Also, each character is hiding some kind of secret and the implications are explored as the series unfolds. The premise is so simple that you would expect the story to become boring but therein lies the shows genius. The writing is outstanding and the show can actually be pretty scary. The wierd truths about the island are slowly revealed and every episode is a cliffhanger. This is probably the most original and frustrating show on the box and it will be the best dvd investment you could make.

5 out of 5 stars THE Twin Peaks OF THE NEW MILLENIUM!   September 27, 2007

Ever since the early 90's (when TV peaked with TWIN PEAKS) had I to come across such an engaging Series! Weird (in a good way), Insightful and Intelligent - and with much better luck with scheduling and ratings.

The secret in my opinion: truly SMART writing; well-ahead planed plot and characters not only interesting but also one cares about to follow week after week!
Faith and Reason, Fate and Choice, Dogma and Intuition, Nature and Nurture, Good and Evil are in a constant dynamic equilibrium, raising everyday issues under extraordinary conditions to render all the hues discernible and debatable. Come for the story, stay for the Philosophy.

If you liked the X-FILES you will appreciate the mythology been interwoven with the action (instead of mythology episodes alternating with action episodes and, thus, pretty much ruining the rhythm of the series).
If you liked TWIN PEAKS you will appreciate the skewed reality and the blurry boundaries between reality and fantasy.

Although not by much, the 1st Season was the best of the three so far. The introduction of the characters with all the serendipitous path-crossing and the unpredictability of major characters getting killed made the difference.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent series   July 9, 2007

Lost is a highly addictive TV series about a group of people that survives a plane crash on a seemingly deserted island somewhere on the Pacific. As hope for rescue diminishes every day the survivors find the island harbors secrets, surprises and danger. What creatures live on the island? What causes the terrifying noise in the jungle? What do the visions the survivors have mean? Who are the survivors and what is their story?
A good deal of suspense, many interesting subplots, some sense of humour and a few physically attractive actors all add up to make this is a great series. I recommend it to all who like a good story, suspense, and a touch of the unexplained.

4 out of 5 stars Get lost... You won't regret it!   June 16, 2007

I'm quite new to LOST, I never bothered to watch it when it was on TV but I decided to get the DVD to see what all the fuss was about, and now I'm hooked! I really Like the design of the DVD, the animation of the menu screen. There is audio commentary from directors and producers and I can't wait to get the second season.
