1 out of 5 stars Here's some advice   December 22, 2008

DO NOT WATCH THIS FILM, 2 hours of my life that i'll never get back...

2 out of 5 stars Brilliant for the first three quarters of the film.   December 19, 2008

I was gripped from the outset with this film. It delivered fast paced and credible action. But then it got to the final part of the film, and without giving the story away it just fizzled out. No explanations, nothing. As one other reviewer said it was as if the director's got bored with it and just stopped filming. I was already to give it 5 stars, but the ending (lack of) leads me to give it just two.

1 out of 5 stars boring as hell   December 15, 2008

The film started well for me, it seemed to be getting into shape right from the start, and gave the promise of some interesting plot. This did continue for a while, but then it just got so endlessly boring beyond belief. The reputation of this movie exceeds how good it is by a million times. Two hours and then you end up with absolutely nothing, not even a solid close up. I imagine you would have to be about 70 years old to get the meaning, if there is one that is. It is like you enter a zone where time-stops, and you start nodding, waiting for something to happen, and all you get is a sheriff talking about God knows what, a psycho bad guy who likes to toss coins, and someone who found two million dollars, and could not figure out a way to escape. A piece of advice, if you are expecting some western action type movie, stay a thousand miles away from this one, go and watch 3:10 to Yuma instead. This will put you to sleep in no time. Worst movie I have seen this year.

4 out of 5 stars More 'Blood Simple' than 'Big Lebowski'   December 14, 2008

Okay, I'm biased. I've seen most Coen brother's films and enjoyed them all. And that's all you really need to know. If you like their films you'll like this one. If you can't stand them, then don't waste your time trying to watch this.

If you're still not sure, it may help to know that the film has:
- beautiful cinematography, helped by some
- spectacular locations
- grit (both in the characters and in their knees and elbows)
- a complex story, not helped by
- some mumbled Texan dialogue
